Kismat Konnection Preview

Aziz Mirza is directing a new film after his much acclaimed Chalte Chalte. Kismat Konnection is a story about how kismat i.e. Fate leads Shahid to Vidya (in the movie of course).

Shahid Kapur’s first successful venture after a host of films was Jab We Met. The only successful one since his debut with Tips production Ishq Vishk. And apparently Shahid has doubled his fees! Despite his Jab we met co-star playing a real life ‘ex gf’ today, it doesn’t seem to have hampered his popularity in any way. He is all set to ignite the screen with the ever-gorgeous Vidya Balan, who has evolved as a true ‘good-looking’ actress.

Shahid plays Raj Malhotra, a blue eyed Architecture college boy, suddenly finding himself challenging destiny, four years past his best-student-of-the-year award. Even though touted as the next bigwig in the Architecture business, luck deserts him. Nothing goes his way, business deals fail, presentation go awry, special meetings become routine.

Raj stumbles upon a gypsy fortune teller, our very own chirpy Juhi Chawla. She insists that his stars are set to change and soon good things will happen to him. The only condition being that he has to find his lucky charm. Soon enough he bags a prestigious project from a top builder.

Enter Priya (Vidya Balan). Priya is a straight talker and a tough decision maker. Her karmic and philanthropic outlook makes her put in 100% for any cause. Although because of the beliefs, she expects others to do the same.

How and where Raj meets Priya and what kismat has in store for them forms the story of this much awaited movie. Saif and Kareena’s Tashan bombed at the Box Office, but Kismat Konnection is still a month away.

Some more trivia:

• Kismat Konnection is Shahid’s third film under the TIPS banner. Ishq Vishk (2003) & Fida (2004) were his previous two.
• Vidya Balan and Shahid Kapur are playing opposite each other for the first time.
• Aziz Mirza’s last movie was Chalte Chalte in 2003 with Shah Rukh Khan & Rani Mukherjee in lead roles. The names of the characters they played was Raj and Priya respectively. Incidentally, Shahid and Vidya’s characters are also named Raj and Priya.
• Vidya Balan had screen prescence in 5 films in 2007, excluding a song in Om Shanti Om. Out of which Guru, Hey babby and Bhool Bhulaiyaa were considered hits. Her only film released in 2008, Halla Bol failed to leave a mark at the box office.
• The last film from Tips Films Race, Shahid Kapur’s last film Jab We Met & Aziz Mirza’s last film Chalte Chalte were all hits at the Box Office.
• Kismat Konnection is Shahid’s 12th and Vidya’s 10th film.
