Dharma Productions' next release is the Abhishek Bachchan- John Abraham- Priyanka Chopra starrer Dostana. The film is directed by Karan Johar's erstwhile assistant Tarun Mansukhani. A major portion of the film was shot in the sun-clad beaches of Miami and needless to say, the cast and crew had the time of their lives. As can be seen from the still, the trio of AB Jr., John and Priyanka look completely chilled out enjoying a drink on the beach. While John looks super-duper fit, even Priyanka looks sizzling hot in this green dress. As for AB Jr., he looks like a complete dude with a scarf around his neck and cool glares to beat the sun.


The shooting of the film is almost complete barring an item number which is yet to be shot. Since Abhishek is now busy with his 'Unforgettable' tour, the song featuring all the 3 lead actors will be shot only when he returns in September. Dostana is about 3 friends and is portrayed as a cool, fun film. Looks like Johnny boy, AB Jr. and Piggy Chops indeed had a ball shooting with each other in the picturesque locales of Miami. While Priyanka seems to have her hands full with shopping bags, it's quite a funny sight to see John pushing AB Jr. in a shopping cart.

Going by the first look of the film and the chemistry which the actors share, Dostana indeed looks like a complete fun-filled experience. The film is slated to release on Nov 14 this year.Don't Forget To Subscribe

Simple stories, told in the simplest manner, have been the hallmark of all Aziz Mirza films, right from RAJU BAN GAYA GENTLEMAN to CHALTE CHALTE. KISMAT KONNECTION, the veteran's new outing, is no exception.

The characters we watch on screen are relatable, their problems are the type that we've either heard of or experienced ourselves, the love story and the conflict in the tale also comes across so real. Like Mirza's previous films, KISMAT KONNECTION is also not heavy on your senses. It's a simple, feel-good fare that charms its way into your heart.

Since Mirza has only worked with the Numero Uno star, SRK, in the past, the first question that crosses your mind is, does he get it right with Shahid? And the second question is, is the chemistry between the lead pair interesting? Thankfully, the answers to both the questions are in the affirmative

But there's just one hitch. KISMAT KONNECTION takes its own sweet time to reach the finale [yes, it's lengthy in the second hour]. Besides, it gets slow-paced as well. Yet, all said and done, KISMAT KONNECTION is a film that makes you smile and that is its biggest triumph.

The last word. KISMAT KONNECTION is a pleasant experience, sunshine cinema that lingers in your memory even after the show has concluded.

Raj [Shahid Kapur] was numero uno. In academics, sports, dramatics. But four years after winning the best-student-of-the-year trophy from his architectural college, he's wondering why a brilliant architect like him, with designs to set the Canadian landscape on fire, is still struggling to find that one big chance to showcase his mettle.

It's almost as though some negative kismat is following him around because whenever something good is about to happen, it seems doomed to fail.

Desperate to get rid of the bad phase in his life, Raj meets a quirky oracle, Hasina Bano Jaan [Juhi Chawla]. She tells him that soon his stars will change and make everything work in his favour; but for all this to happen, Raj has first to find his lucky charm and never let go of it. But she tells him no more, leaving Raj mystified, trying to figure out what this charm could be.

Suddenly, his life seems to be on the right track. He's managed to impress top builder Sanjeev Gill [Om Puri] into giving him a prestigious project.

Priya [Vidya Balan] is a tough-talking, tough-decision taking girl with a heart of gold. She is an idealist who is intent on making the world a better, more humane place and is quite willing to fight a lone battle for it.


Raj succeeds in persuading Priya that he's the Messiah who can save her beloved Community Centre from destruction. And also opens her eyes to her philandering fiancé [Amit Verma]. Raj even manages to thwart the evil designs of old-college-foe-turned-deadly-professional-enemy Dave [Manoj Bohra]. Does this mean that Raj has unwittingly discovered his lucky charm?

Recall Aziz Mirza's movies. In practically all his films, the protagonist is aspiring to make it big in life. There's a constant struggle on both levels, personal and professional. KISMAT KONNECTION is no different. Sure, KISMAT KONNECTION isn't entirely original. It bears an uncanny resemblance to JUST MY LUCK [2006; Lindsay Lohan, Chris Pine], but it has been adapted quite well in the Indian milieu. What also sets apart is that Mirza's films have a subtle message and KISMAT KONNECTION is no exception.

KISMAT KONNECTION is primarily a love story that viewers may have visited several times in the past, but let's not forget, romance can never ever go out of fashion. Mirza and co-director Haroun Mirza succeed in presenting the highs and lows in a relationship with maturity. The situations are simple, there's no place for melodrama here. But Mirza should've taken care in maintaining its pace and length in the second hour. The film could've easily done away with a number of scenes.

Pritam's music is ear-pleasing. 'Aai Paapi' and 'Bakhuda Tumhi Ho' are haunting compositions, while Ahmed Khan's choreography in the former takes your breath away. Binod Pradhan's cinematography is top notch and the icing on the cake is the breath-taking locales of Canada.

Shahid is a complete natural, very likable, very believable. Post JAB WE MET, the actor has attained that rare confidence which shows in his performances. Watch him get the emotional moments right and you know that the actor has only matured with time. You may have pre-conceived notions vis-à-vis his pairing with Vidya, but let's tell you that they look perfect. The trimmed hair and minimal makeup make Vidya look pretty. Acting-wise too, she pitches in a fine performance.

Juhi tends to go over the top, but that's the demand of the role. Om Puri is first-rate. Himani Shivpuri is fantastic and her Punjabi accent will bring the house down. Vishal Malhotra is efficient. Manoj Bohra acts very well.

On the whole, KISMAT KONNECTION is a simple film that has its own charm. It's no path-breaking cinema, but it works. At the box-office, its kismet should be strong at multiplexes and the wide release, coupled with no opposition, will help its distributors reap a benefit. Business in Overseas, where it has been given an extensive release, should also be good.

Ram Gopal Varma’s underworld-meets-terrorism flick Contract is strictly is a timepass movie about a man on a mission to kill a dreaded terrorist.

If you expect some serious insight into the nexus between the Mumbai underworld and the terror network, let me state at the outset that you would be disappointed by ‘Contract’. At large, the film is a vendetta tale of an ex-army commando who infiltrates the underworld to get to the top terrorist responsible for the attacks that killed his wife and daughter.


At the center of the story is Aman Malik ( Adhvik Mahajan ) who is approached by a coffee-guzzling Mumbai cop for a special mission to nail the terrorists after a series of terror blasts in Delhi. Aman turns down the offer but has a rude awakening after his own wife and daughter is killed in another terror attack in Mumbai.

Devastated but vengeful, he agrees to the cop’s covert mission, assumes new identity as Amaan Ali Yusuf, and joins one of the two rival gangs as a first step to get to the neck of the top terrorist, Sultan.

On this mission, Aman has to shed a lot of blood, and bump off many people before he gets to his wanted man.

Honestly speaking, there has been an overkill of underworld films from Ram Gopal Varma . Satya and Company came at a time when the subject wasn’t much explored in Bollywood and Varma’s realistic and hard-hitting (at times even shocking) treatment of the subject caught the viewers’ fancy. But now, everyone’s seen that and done over with. Still, Varma keeps treading the beaten track and makes an utterly forgettable film like ‘Contract’.

The movie is full of all the trappings of a usual RGV gangster drama. It has shabby-looking, trigger-happy criminals and inside informants engaged in a war between rival gangs. It has a protagonist who utters a wisecrack whenever he opens his mouth, and leaves a trail of blood whenever attacked by rivals. It has a leading lady ( Sakshi Gulati ) who falls for the gun-wielding hero and accompanies him to some of his missions.

Technically, the film has a raw and rugged look with the camera lingering mostly on the close-ups of the actors. The background music is so loud at times that it almost screams how viewers ought to feel in a particular scene. The songs are forgettable.

Speaking of performances, newcomer Adhvik Mahajan has a notable screen presence. Though he doesn’t deliver anything truly outstanding, there is no trace of hamming in his acting, which is quite a feat for any newcomer. Sakshi Gulati’s role doesn’t have much meat, but she performs well.

As rival gangsters Upendra Limaye and Sumeet Nijhawan are brilliant. Upendra is particularly very spontaneous.

In a nutshell, ‘Contract’ is a timepass film at best.

The maestro is back this time in Tamil to make u dance to his tunes with some hip shaking, mind blowing music with all the experimentation’s you can ask for in a Rahman album all of it which gives it a fresh feel. Some songs will take time to sink in as all Rahman songs do but all songs are sure to make u tap ur feet.

Chinnamma (Benny Dayal, Chinmayii)

Adapted from ARR’s earlier film in Hindi “Meenaxi” this song sets off with a brilliant flute composition and Benny Dayal just dazzles with this number. He is the highlight of the song taking over the music and lyrics , just gets you with his haunting voice. Chinmayii falls a little short to cope up with Benny but has done nothing wrong. The background music and percussion’s just blends with the song that is ought to be a huge hit among the masses.

Elay (Naresh Iyer, Krish)

A song that starts off with traces of “Roobaroo” from RDB but then the guitar strumming and violin which have become Rahman’s obsession just takes over and is the main attraction of the song overshadowing great vocals from both singers. Naresh and Krish do what they do best and this song can go on to become Mustafa Mustafa-Part 2. Na.Muthukumar’s lyrics are just right to make this song click among the youngistan’s.

I Miss U Da (Chinmayii,Indai Haza)

This song is brilliantly set up with Chinmayii chanting the “Eminee…” with her amazing voice and just pulls you into this song. Rahman has done a great job with the background instrumentation to give a unique feel to this song. Chinmayii has put in a lot of effort into the song to give the perfect feel for the song. A song that will be popular among the radio stations.

Marudhaani (Madhushree,A.R.Rahman,Henry)

Rahman proves he is king of melody with this special number which has excellent vocals of Madhushree who has worked hard to get her pronunciations right. ARR disappoints his fans by not singing a number but his humming and perfect background musical support gives a great boost to this wonderful composition from the master. As a fan of ARR i would have loved to see him sing a whole number in this album but you cannot take anything away from this magical piece of melody.

Naan Eppodhu (Reena Bharadwaj)

Great percussion’s and some wonderful music by the maestro take this melodious number to the next level. Although Reena Bharadwaj’s voice is so soothing it sometimes makes you feel she wasn’t suited for the song. Nevertheless another melody from Rahman’s fort.

Taxi Taxi (Benny Dayal,Blaaze,Viviane Chaixe,Javed Ali)

Wow!!!Wat a song…just makes you dance with its initial hearing. Blaaze proves why he is the best in business and sets up this songs for the singers and Benny Dayal and Rashid Ali yet again prove their mettle. The french utterings in the middle of the song by Viviane Chaixe just blends perfectly with the song. A peppy number which has all the variations which is surely going to be the Anthem for youngsters in the coming days.

Track 1 - Khuda Jaane
This intensely romantic number is the best track of the album. KK’s high pitched intense voice lends soul to the song however female singer Shilpa Rao fails to do so. A singer like Sunidhi Chauhan could have done better justice to this beautifully composed poetic track. If you like listening to Phalak Tak from Tashan or even Shona from Ta Ra Rum Pum you are bound to listen to this track over and over again... As far as picturisation is concerned, the song has been magnificently shot in different locales in Italy. From beaches to streets... Ranbir doesn’t leave a single chance to romance girl friend Deepika in public! The two cozy up almost forgetting it’s actually a film that they are working for!

Track 2: Lucky Boy
Punjabi lyrics right at the beginning of the song coupled with Sunidhi’s seductive voice throughout and constant thumping dance floor beats in the background makes this song a perfect favourite for the lounge and club music lovers. Hard Kaur too raps in between making it all the more interesting. This song may not grab your attention at the beginning but has the ability to grow on you. Bipasha sizzles like never before in the song! She looks hot like never before! Bipasha proves that no one can ever come close to her when it comes to turning the heat on with just a seductive glance!


Track 3 -Aahista Aahista
Shreya’s angelic and feminine voice meets Lucky Ali’s ‘just out of bed’ kinda voice (was Lucky trying to be Adnan here?) but unfortunately no matter how hard the track tries to sound lively it doesn’t work much for you. The ‘first time in love’ proclamation doesn’t affect you either! The track is a little too fast and fails to leave any sort of romantic impression on you. Guess only the execution of the song might make you like it Aahista Aahista as the song has been beautifully shot in Switzerland with Ranbir and Minissha accompanying each other on a scooter, a cable car... basically indulging in some snowy adventure sports!

Track 4 - Jogi Mahi
This song reminds you of the age old Yash Raj culture of having a traditional Punjabi love ballad in the film. The song touches your heart. Music director Shekhar Ravjiani shows that he can anytime turn into a full time singer with this one! He impresses and Sukhwinder Singh’s addition in the song makes it all the more foot-tapping and peppy. The dholak, percussions and Indian strings play a significant part in making this song smell like the wet earth of the Punjabi heartland. Ranbir looks extremely handsome as he sports a black shervani and showcases his dancing skills. Reality singing show contestant

Track 5 - Small Town Girl
This song seems to have been influenced by songs like Ticket to Hollywood and Pretty Woman. The beats, rendition of song in strong Punjabi accent and lyrics that too by Shankar Mahadevan... everything reminds you of the songs mentioned above. The execution shows Ranbir chasing Bipasha in Rome which again reminds you of a desi Abhishek chasing anglicised Lara in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom! Everything said and done, the song fails to create the fun chemistry that the pair shares onscreen...

Track 6 - Khuda Jaane (remix)
This song is a fast pacy version of the original slow romantic track. It does nothing except of making you wonder why ruin a good song by adding unnecessary beats to it! Doesn’t work at all! This song is just unnecessary.

Track 7 - Bachna Ae Haseeno
Whoa! Panchamda, as RD Burman was fondly called rocks and years after his death, proves how he was ahead of his time as he keeps inspiring the young music directors with his peppy path breaking music! The title track creates history as Vishal Shekhar resurrect the evergreen classic by making Kishore Kumar’s son Sumit Kumar sing along with his dad! Vishal Dadlani raps in the beginning giving the song the much needed zing for generation next! Track makes for a decent tribute to RD Burman and it is only on this track that the audiences wouldn’t mind standing and whistling for Ranbir as he goes shirtless! He reminds you of his father...an evergreen lover boy of Bollywood! Ranbir also sports a silver suit (fortunately not a jump suit!) which used to be his dad’s favourite in his heydays! The ladies too sizzle with Ranbir in this one but it is Bipasha who steals the show by looking scorching hot!

It was a most fabulous movie and I enjoyed it the whole way through. If only words could explain how much I love it :D Imran...I am just so proud of him. he acted amazingly well and his debut into bollywood just rocked. I know he will make some rocking films. I wrote tons about this movie, but here is just a short review.

If only I could type out my reaction I would. At the end of this movie, I was still smiling even though inside I was sad that it had ended. But a perfect ending it was! The story seems like a puzzle. The amounts of pieces were perfect and each piece was placed correctly at a perfect time. It is yet another bollywood love story, but you know it is different after the end. The story is of Jai and Aditi are told at the airport. the airport is where it all happens. The gang, consisting of Jiggy, Shaleen, Rotlu, and Bombs tell this love story to Mala, Jiggy’s new girlfriend. At first she doesn’t even want to hear the story and tries to get herself out of hearing the classic and stereotypical love story. But throughout the whole film, she only gets even more excited and wants to hear more. It’s a love story with everything-cute moments, stealing glances, song, dance, drama, and much more. Even though there are slight, heavy moments in the film, there is humor all the way in the film. It is a definite MUST-SEE if you are looking for a light love story, without all the glam and rhona-dhona.

The actors fit their roles perfectly. You could feel as if you were there, at the airport, listening along with Mala. In my opinion, the parts could have only been played by those who did. This could have been a true story between the same people. That was how real it was.

Imran Khan- He has definitely made his mark. His acting was terribly cute and a girl could only wish she had her own Jai. Imran played the character of Jai brilliantly. Jai is your normal guy, but he does not want to pick a fight with anyone. He would rather spread peace. As said in the movie, Gandhi ji would be so proud that there was a Jai around. Imran fit all this perfectly. The camera truly does love him. He knows when to be cute, when to be serious, and yes, even when to cry. I highly applaud Imran for giving a nice performance and a smashing breakthrough into bollywood. Out of 10, I would give him an 8. If I didn’t consider myself a fan, I would still give this number because I enjoyed his acting immensely and was sure to notice his every, last detail. But yes, if I was a biased fan, I would perhaps give him a 9 for making me smile every time he heat up my screen.

Genelia D’Souza: A born actress. She knows how to act tough and rough extremely well. You would even consider her a true tomboy. She gives true justice to the character of Aditi. Her presence on the screen will make you feel what her character feels. If she cries, we also feel it. When she is angry, you also are. I enjoyed this performace of hers. It was brilliant and I would straight out give her a 9!

The Gang: Simple perfect. Each and every one of the actors played their part perfectly. They should receive as much credit as Imran and Genelia. They were in the whole movie just as much as they were, or even longer, as they narrate the story. I think the story would not have been as enjoyable without them. So Jiggy, Shaleen, Rotlu, and Bombs-hats off to you guys. I appreciated their characters very, very much.

So in the end, I was very happy that I made a good choice to pay for a film. The last one I saw in a theatre was Taare Zameen Par, and now, another Aamir Khan Production leaves me content. In the end, I would only shout out a big thank you to Abbas T. for making such a classic love story into one for the modern days. The dialogues were very witty, and the direction was great.

If you are having any doubts whether to watch this or not, I say go ahead. You will laugh and you’ll love this cute story.

After a decent movie like Samanyudu, this amateurish attempt at a movieabout land mafia comes as a real downer. Victory has perhaps two goodmoments, and the rest of the movie has to be tolerated than enjoyed orappreciated. Director Ravi C. Kumar's last attempt is so much morelow-key, but in terms of story, content, focus, screenplay andperformances it was a hundred fold better. Victory has Nitin showingoff his six pack abs. And little else.

Plot:Viji is living his life when his family and a thousand other familiesare affected by a land grabbing that takes place. The culprit is MLADevaraj and it's a huge scam-but the problem is that he is getting awaywith it. Determined not to let that happen, Viji wants everyone tounite against this anti-social element. People are too scared, but Vijiand his gang are made to take action. The rest of the story is abouthow they bring the bad guy to justice.

Story, Screenplay and Direction :The story has nothing new tooffer. Land Mafia, MLAs, Ring Road, International Airports and a bunchof guys fighting out the system. Charmante. The performances are soamateurish that one wonders whether there was a prompter right there,giving cues to each character throughout the movie. The music is notgood either. The scene composition, screenplay and editing are all donehalf-heartedly.

Mamta'strack starts off like this: she places an ad in a matrimonial site andViji's parents place his. The girl and the guy's parents are incorrespondence. But Viji doesn't know of it, and this girl follows himaround and then tries to make him say that he loves her. Then for along time you don't see the girl, and suddenly she appears again.There's really no logical ending for the love track. One wonders whatthe point of the matrimonial site was-maybe a sponsor? There's a songfull of them, from Idea to RS Brothers, whether used for the effect oras sponsors, one cannot be too sure.

The first half has nothingmuch happening. Some land mafia fights, this half-baked love track,Sindhu Tolani's (who plays a news reporter) friendship with Nitin andgang and stray characters and tracks (MS Narayana and Brahmanandam) whohave little to do with the main plot. The second half you keep hopingwill pick up and not till the last 20 minutes does something reallyhappen. And nothing we haven't seen before sadly. At least if it wasdone well..but the taking is so amateurish that it's surprising (if youknow that the director has experience and his last flick was verywatchable).

Performances: Nitin really needs to slow down on his dialogue delivery. His six packsare in place, and he has even worked on his dance. But he was muchbetter as an actor in his earlier movies, and somehow seems to beneglecting this main aspect with each successive movie. MamtaMohandas's role itself is badly written, in bits and pieces. She is anable singer, but as a female lead, she needs to hone those skills.Shashank as a shop owner and Duvvasi Mohan with his witty Telanganapunches are okay; suddenly their group of 4 becomes 5 post-break andthe new member is given no introduction whatsoever. Tanikella Bharaniand the rest of seasoned performers are not as effortless in theirperformance as usual-they seem artificial, and the direction departmenthas to take the discredit mainly.

Music and Dance: Copied mostly, including a part of the background score (Don). Lackluster in totality.

Last Word :A disappointment.

The film “Via Darjeeling” says that the people who gossip about a situation and make stories related to any suspicious event, are biased by their own life experiences in making assumptions about a incidents. The film also tries to depict the so called “Addas” culture that was mostly the coffee shops of Kolkatta where friends gathered and gossiped about an incident for hours. Performance of the actors in the film is fine but the audience feels that the end lacked a final note that makes the whole three hour drama fake.

In the famous Bengali “addas” culture the people groups made assumptions for every incident in the city and many times they discussed in a way to distort reality behind an incident. Music of the film is situational and entertaining. The story is similar to Japanese tale Rashomon in which a murder mystery is perceived in four different ways by four individuals.

The story of the film is about Ankur and Rimli, who are honeymooning in Darjeeling. When the couple plans to return back from the place, the husband goes missing and the police man Robin Bose is enquiring about the situation. He is informed by the wife that her husband fought with a taxi driver and a mysterious man was following the couple.

Two years after the incident, the police man talks about the case in front of his group of friends and his friends try to give an outcome to the story.

Rono is a journalist and he says that the mysterious man must be Rimli’s old lover called Bonny and Ankur must have been kidnapped by the taxi driver.

Priti, Rono’s wife speaks in favor of the girl and she says that Rimli must have been pregnant with Bonny’s child and when Ankur comes to knows, he leaves her.

Kaushik , an aspiring filmmaker who’s recently came back from NY , has a filmy kind of story ,he says Bonny (the unidentified man following the couple) must be a contract killer hired by the husband to kill Rimli because Rimli was lone heir to the ancestral property.

Mallika a successful television actress has her own version to the story.

The director doesn’t comes up with a story that ends the suspense and he makes the audience to keep assuming stories .The story starts with a lots of expectation but ends nowhere and that makes the film weak .The cinematography of he film is average. Music matches the script.

Sonial Kulkarni, Kay Kay Menon and Parvin Dabbas perform as per the presumptions in the four stories. Vinay Pathak is brilliant in flashback and current stories. Sandhya Mridul impresses and Rajat Kapoor, Simone Singh and Prashant Narayanan are brilliant in their roles.

The film may be confusing for its concluding part but the performance of actors and the suspense script magnetizes audience. The film will not be a grosser at box –office but will get average collections.

The film “Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic” is a non-realistic romantic -comedy film for families and kids, having a few magical moments. The audience who liked to watch “Boothnath” will love to watch “Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic.” The film has no drama, suspense, actions, thrills, unexpected turning points or any substance attached to it. The film has a plain simple predictable script. The film has the advantage of performances from actress Rani Mukherjee and Saif Ali Khan and the unexpectedly fine performance by the current generation kids. The music of the film has the advantage of having the song “Lazy Lamhe”.

The film has got inspirations from many Hollywood movies like “Mary Poppins” and “The Sound of Music” and it looks to be a Disney kind of love –drama with magic inputs. The story of the film starts off from the childhood of Ranbeer Talwar who was brought up in an orphanage and he studies in a boarding school where he gets acclaimed for being a good student .As a youth he is a successful businessman and one day he crashes his car into a SUV that kills Mr and Mrs Wallia.

Ranbeer is sentenced by the court to secure the four little children of the couple - Vasisht, Avantika, Aditi and Iqbal –financially and emotionally, for at least three months trial period and if Ranbeer fails to take care of the kids, he will be sent to custody with a non-bail able prison sentence.

Ranbeer, who has been successful in practical life, is unfortunate in relations and he lost his parents, teachers and even his love, and therefore he has turned into a hard hearted man. The kids have made up their minds to take revenge on Ranbeer and he has a task ahead to make the orphan kids live happily with their new guardian. The kids and Ranbeer pray to the God for help and god sends Geeta, an angel to help them. Everything is settled by the magic and love, showered by the angel, on the four kids and Ranbeer.

Kunal Kohli looks inspired by the Disney and Hollywood kids movies. Cinematography of the film is pretty. Amisha Patel’s “Lazy Lamhe” is wonderful and she looks glamorous in her small role. The music of the film is average. The performance of Rani Mukherjee and Saif Ali Khan is natural and impressive. Ayushi Burman, Rachit Sidana, Akshat Chopra and Baby Shriya Sharma have given expert performances and they do not look to be debuting in movies. The kids portray well the current genre’s grown up kids’ image.

The film will not get audience, searching for dramatic movies with actions, suspense thriller but the film comes under the section of light fun family movies and these kinds of movies are less in number in bollywood. The film will get above average box – office collections and the film will easily recover the cost incurred in production.

Synopsis :

The film is a romantic love story but it lacks the intensity of love that is effortlessly depicted by top stars of bollywood. Producer Pahlaj Nihlani tried to get back to his stand in bollywood through the film taking up debutants in lead but none of the actors he selected is dazzling and well versed in romancing onscreen. The script of the film is not new and has loopholes with unrealistic twists and turns and a debutants love story should have the finest love songs that the movie lacks.

The story of the film is about a successful man Raghunathan ‘Raghu’ Aiyer who has finished a project with his company and is preparing to go to New York. But before going to New York he has to finish a part of his project in Chandigarh. A professionally successful youngster ‘Raghu’ goes to Chandigarh and he is roaming in streets to accidentally meet a local Punjabi girl Pinky – a student of photography who adopts all western ways of living but is Punjabi at heart.

Both hero and heroine meet each other at some places and the couple gets into a one night stand relation that makes Pinky pregnant and she decides to give birth to the child .It looks as if Rahgu is disinterested in the girl but he decides to stay at the place to meet Pinky’s family, that comprise of five brothers and a strict father. The sequence looks unrealistic and forcefully imposed.

One day unexpectedly Raghu makes up his mind and he feels that he has got the right girl into his life and his parents reach the place to see their Punjabi daughter-in-law. Raghu’s parents find that the place is not fit for them because it has cow and dog as pets. After many family disruptions, unions, re-unions, a decision of marriage takes place.

In all these drams the audience couldn’t get even a single “emotionally touchy moment “to feel they watched a worthy romantic family movie. The costumes of lead artists are not up to latest fashion. This kind of movie should have at least two to three extremely attractive costumes. The director tries to make the screens look beautiful but lacks a grip on performance of actors.

The performance of debutant Avantikka is ok and Rishi had a lot of burden and he couldn’t perform like any of the good actors. The film is below average in outcome.

If it is a Priyadarshan film, then you have a reason to watch it – Comedy. Yes Mere Baap Pehle Aap does not disappoint you. It is a comedy film but with some flare of emotion and drama as well. So if you are going to watch this film keeping comedy in mind, please don’t go. But if you are admirer of Priyadarshan’s class comedy, go for it.

Janaradhan [Paresh Rawal] has spent his life bringing up his two kids, Chirag [Manoj Joshi] and Gaurav [Akshaye Khanna]. Now when the duo has grown up, Gaurav takes up the responsibility of his father. Gaurav doesn’t like his father’s company with Madhav (Om Puri).

Madhav and Janaradhan, who are always in search of a bride for Madhav, forever land up in trouble and every time Gaurav has to bail them out and face the embarrassment. Gaurav starts getting prank calls from a girl who turns out to be his old college friend Shikha [Genelia D'Souza]. Shikha is staying with her guardian Anuradha [Shobhana], who happens to be Janardhan's first love.

Now Gaurav wants his father to get married to his lost love.....
Mere Baap Pahle Aap is an enjoyable movie. Paresh Rawal and Om Puri are excellent. Akshaye Khanna’s act is equally good. Rajpal Yadav didn’t get much scope to perform, he is eventually wasted. Genelia looks cute in this film. She has the ability to become a star. Naseeruddin Shah has performed well, so as Manoj Joshi. Rest of the cast is okey!

Cinmetography is very well executed. Some the shots of Kerala are amazing. Music is big let down. Dialogues are enjoyable. All and all can be viewed for once. Yes, you should not wait for the DVD release. Go get a ticket.
