Shiney Ahuja feels casting of actors should be per the script

Shiney Ahuja feels that the trend of casting artistes in films as per their on-screen image should change.

"Actors should be cast in movies as per their calibre and as per the needs of the script," Shiney said in Mumbai.


According to him, directors like Sudhir Mishra , Mahesh Bhatt , Anurag Basu , Jahnu Barua have played an important role in shaping his career by giving him an opportunity to bring variety in his performances.

Replying to questions, he preferred to pick scripts if he feels it was a story that he would like to watch on screen.

"I also see if the character I am supposed to play on screen interests me," he added.


Shiney said his desire to feature in light, romantic films was realised in Barua's Har Pall which will be released soon.

Speaking about his upcoming film Hijack , Shiney said producer-director Kunal Shivdasani was his good friend and enjoyed a good comfort level with him. ‘Hijack’ is an action- thriller with deep human emotions.

Speaking about his co-star Esha Deol , Shiney said Esha plays an airhostess and was not romantically cast opposite him in the film.

When asked about his role in the film, Shiney said the story dwells on how ordinary people would react to unprecedented incidents like a hijack and try to save their near and dear ones.
